We recently received a letter from one of our favorite preachers. He outlined a lot of good information about the upcoming elections. He emphasized that even if you don’t like either candidate running for President, it is important to vote for one of them and for the down ballot people….even if they are running for some local office.
He stated” Elections are very serious business, especially to God and to the kingdom of God. Voting is not optional in HIs eyes because the WORD says in Provers 29:2, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth the rule, the people mourn.” ……. He went on further to say: “Whether you or I like them or not has nothing to do with anything.”
“In the first place, there are more people running for office in this election than just those seeking the offices of president and vice president, as I mentioned earlier. There are also the platforms that form the agendas of each party—the platforms that these candidates are supporting—that we must consider. Those platforms are the big issue, especially to you and me as believers .”
“The planks in those platforms came out of people’s hearts. God pays very close attention to them, and to those who choose to stand on them. No one and stand on one plank and not the other. You’re not standing on a plank. You’re on the whole stage, which is made up of every plank.”……..
READ The Republican Party Platform and the Democratic Party Platform here. From the presidential nominees to the soil and water conservation person on the ticket, these are their views on the issues. Now…..you choose.
The letter went on to say : “The one thing that disturbs met the most is the abortion agenda of the Democratic Party. No one can vote for a candidate, knowing they are for abortion, without being and accomplice to murder. Lets go to the word of God and see why aborting is just that—murder. We’ll begin with Deuteronomy 30:19:
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day again you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.
“That tells us exactly what to choose—-LIFE!
“Now let’s read Proverbs 6:16-19, NIV Version-84.
16 There are six things The Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood.
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies and an man who stirs up dissension among brothers.”
The letter goes on to outlay many more supporting scriptures. For now I ask you stop and think about this election. Our choices may not be the best but remember the Lord used flawed men and women throughout the Bible to get His Will done on earth through men and women with flaws. Think about which platform the people you want to represent you, stand on, then go out and vote for them.
